Nitrogen Addition Alleviates Cadmium Toxicity in Eleocarpus glabripetalus Seedlings

چکیده
Cadmium (Cd) accumulation in soil is a serious form of heavy metal pollution affecting environmental safety and human health. In order to clarify the tolerance mechanisms Cd-contaminated soils under N deposition, changes plant growth, root architecture physiological characteristics Eleocarpus glabripetalus seedlings combined nitrogen (N) cadmium treatments were determined this study. The results indicated that Cd-induced negative effects inhibited growth E. through increased underground biomass allocation, affected transpiration respiratory processes, resulting decreased soluble sugars concentration leaves non-structural carbohydrates (NSC) roots. Root systems might play major role Cd absorption. stress restricted fine roots (<0.5 mm), uptake P. addition alleviated effect on improving system, increasing starch NSC contents total biomass. These findings have important implications for understanding underlying deposition arbor species.

Salicylic acid alleviates the cadmium toxicity in barley seedlings.
Salicylic acid (SA) plays a key role in plant disease resistance and hypersensitive cell death but is also implicated in hardening responses to abiotic stressors. Cadmium (Cd) exposure increased the free SA contents of barley (Hordeum vulgare) roots by a factor of about 2. Cultivation of dry barley caryopses presoaked in SA-containing solution for only 6 h or single transient addition of SA at ...
متن کاملExogenous GR24 Alleviates Cadmium Toxicity by Reducing Cadmium Uptake in Switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) Seedlings
Strigolactones (SLs) are classified into plant hormones, playing a key role as a mediator of plant growth in response to several abiotic stresses, including drought and salinity. However, the role of SLs in cadmium (Cd)-induced stress to plants is still unknown. The physiological responses of switchgrass (Panicum virgatum) stressed in 10 μmol L-1 Cd to exogenous synthetic SLs analog, GR24 were ...
متن کاملEffects of benzoic acid and cadmium toxicity on wheat seedlings
Benzoic acid (BA) and Cd exhibit cumulative effects on plants due to their accumulation in the soil. The present study reports the effects of BA an allelochemical, Cd and their combinations on seed germination, seedling growth, biochemical parameters, and response of antioxidant enzymes in Triticum aestivum L. The experiment was conducted in sand supplemented with Hoagland nutrient solution. Be...
